Job Description

In this position you will play a key role within the catering and first aid/ safety functions being based out of our Osoyoos, BC office, with the ability to travel to the field from time to time throughout the year.

  • Managing files for catering staff and ensuring that all files are complete and up to date.
  • Prep and Review grocery orders for all camps. Ensure grocery orders are accurately placed and inputted for billing.
  • Responsible for building a standard menu to share across our programs and to monitor the quality and adherence to these designed menus to continue offering top quality food service throughout the industry.
  • Support the kitchen and catering staff interview process with Human Resources. Ensure any new hires are qualified and any required certifications are in place.
  • Support catering staff scheduling and leads the creation of multi-week menu planning based on client specifications for each specific camp, or project.
  • Source vendor and suppliers for healthy and cost-effective food purchases.
  • Creating and management of catering and logistic purchase orders.
  • Ability to do rotations in camp as a camp cook from time to time and be able to conduct site-based quality assurance/quality control visits at our various project sites throughout the year.
  • Replenish and track all first aid and kitchen equipment and supplies, including kitchen staff uniforms.
  • Review and monitor all first aid camp inventories, specifically O2 and AED’s.
  • Manage all first aid documentation coming from camps and ensuring same is filed and actioned appropriately.
  • Ensure all new field-based hires are provided with new hire site safety orientations.
  • Support the logistics department when needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience,amp; Certification
  • 2-5 years of experience as a First cook in a remote camp setting, ideally under arctic conditions.
  • Must be experienced in multi-week menu planning and have a strong background in food services quality control.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
  • Occupational first aid level 3 or equivalent is a strong asset.
  • A solid safety background with knowledge of job hazard recognition and removal is required.
  • Food safe advanced certification required.
  • Must have the ability to travel to camp periodically and be able to complete a minimum 2 in 2 weeks rotation as a camp cook from time to time.
  • Must be highly adaptable in a dynamic environment.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Very detail oriented.
  • Above average skills with Microsoft Office suite is required.
