Job Description

Role: BuyerSafety Express Ltd., an Aramsco Company, has been serving its clients in the Abatement, Restoration, Industrial Safety and Surface Preparation market for over 30 years. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic team player to join our Operations Team, who will be located in Eastern Canada. Growth opportunities are available to dedicated team players that show a strong work ethic.The successful candidate must demonstrate attention to detail, ability to learn quickly (including ability to self-learn), and excellent oral and written communications skills.Job Objective:In order to help our team succeed, our Purchasing Department must be able to work in a very fast-paced environment that is constantly changing and reacting to the needs of our customers. The Buyer is required to manage the inventory in the company’s western branches, including but not limited to manage the inflow of products and transfers to other branches. In rare but important situations, additional hours are expected on short notice in order to fulfill an influx of orders due to flooding, fires and or other catastrophes.Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:Manage replenishment daily

  • Execute Planned Purchasing daily for all western branches
  • Manage the internal branch transfers to ensure inventory is allocated in the most cost effective and efficient way.
  • Manage inventory in western branches to support sales growth by:
  • Watching movement and adjusting min/max
  • Managing inventory dollars and turns
  • Maximizing gross margin through vendor selection and minimizing freight expenses
  • Manage the product life cycle to reduce stale inventory
  • Support daily cycle counts, stock adjustments and vendor returns
Manage timely and accurate receiving of product:
  • Expediting customer back orders on receipt
  • Expediting vendor back orders when required
  • Initiating alternative sources/vendors as needed
  • Following up & adding notes to outstanding purchase orders weekly
  • Manage buying/flow of non-stock products with sales & inside reps
  • Smooth execution of imports from PO through product flow and import documentation
  • Work co-operatively with the parent company’s replenishment team to meet local and national needs
  • Participate and support vendor rationalization, product consolidation and re-categorizing initiatives.
  • Manage local vendor relationships where appropriate
Actively participate in team meetings and operation calls to share best practices and discuss process improvement opportunities. Participate on projects as required.Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and Company code of EthicsQualifications:
  • Post-secondary in Supply Chain Management or similar field an asset
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in inventory management and purchasing an asset
  • Knowledge of SQL would be an asset
  • Experience with Streamline/Tecsys ERP system is an asset
  • Demonstrate a “fire in the belly” attitude, the initiative to take the time to learn product offerings, and the desire to take advantage of training opportunities provided by the company.
  • A self-starter that is extremely motivated and someone who can work with minimum supervision.
  • The ability to multi task and work with the larger team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Sourcing and vendor negotiations would be an asset
