Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.How will you make an impactA Buyer I position is a terrific entry point to work with us in the exciting world of Purchasing for a global company like Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Buyer 1 is responsible for buying finished goods and/or service parts items within a specific buying portfolio, maintaining inventory for these products to meet customer fill rate goals and corporate objectives. An integral part of this position is the ability to control costs, solve problems, and ensure the timely supply of products to customers – an intriguing combination of Negotiator meets Troubleshooter meets Diplomat! The successful candidate builds then maintains robust business relationships with suppliers, developing innovative ways to ensure that service level fill rate goals are met or exceeded.What will you do

  • Purchase finished goods/service parts products for inventory and for customer sale.
  • Maximize delivery performance and service level to customers while controlling inventory levels to meet corporate goals.
  • Resolve/prevent chronic delivery problems with suppliers and escalate unresolved issues to Supply Chain Manager.
  • Initiate expediting on critical orders that require special handling then follow up to be sure contractual and urgent requirements are satisfied
  • Act as the main contact for Instrument Service suppliers regarding matters concerning Distribution and Supply Chain.
  • Manage inventory by minimizing slow moving, obsolete, expired, overstocked and dead items
  • Escalate significant cost increases then work to mitigate impact to the business.
  • Provide reporting, analysis and feedback on suppliers including a monthly report
  • Ensures supplier contract adherence where applicable.
How will you get hereEducation
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Background in a business, procurement, or logistics discipline with Post-Secondary education preferred
Experience
  • One year of minimum work experience in a business environment (procurement is preferred)
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, persistence and diplomacy
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Well proven sense of urgency
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and work independently.
  • Effective and positive written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented, strong computer skills and software knowledge. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Intermediate Excel skills (Ex: VLookups, etc)
  • Proficient with Thermo Fisher Scientific ERP, Cognos Business Intelligence and enhanced Excel experience (ex. formulas, graphing, pivots, building macros).
  • Enrollment in, or completion of, Certified Purchasing Professional designation program of APICS certification
  • Proficiently Bilingual (French/English)
