With more than 1,100 beds and approximately 12,000 staff members, we deliver specialized care to the Eastern Ontario region.From the compassion of our people to the relentless pursuit of new discoveries, The Ottawa Hospital never stops seeking solutions to the most complex health-care challenges while continually engaging with the community to support our vision for better patient care.Working together with its research institute, the University of Ottawa, and other partners, the hospital is continually gaining national and international recognition for high-quality patient care, teaching and research, while striving to meet the needs of the culturally diverse community we serve.Rotation/ShiftsDays, 8 hour shifts.What you will doReporting to the Director, Supply Chain Operations, the Clinical Product Specialist is responsible for advising the Inventory and Order Management team on clinical use of inventoried items, recommending substitute products and advising on suitability in collaboration with service lines and physicians, integrating supply chain operations with clinical needs.The position plays a key role and will undertake a wide variety of tasks related to managing supply chain risk for critical supplies, including:

• Providing clinical input and advice on products;
• Leading integration and collaboration with clinical stakeholders;
• Evaluating products and participating in value analysis and standardization procedures to reduce stock outs and back orders;
• Assisting in the categorization of products and data cleansing;
• Participating in developing new processes and reporting tools to manage critical supplies and the substitute process in collaboration with clinicians, including a supply chain customer service helpdesk and communication strategy.

What you will bring

• Four (4) year Undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field;
• Previously or currently Registered Nurse, or clinical certificate or designation;
• Three (3) years previous experience in clinical product evaluation, training, education, sales, value analysis committees, procedures or projects;
• Five (5) years experience in a clinical healthcare environment;
• Clinical background in nursing or a related field that demonstrates expertise in clinical products;
• Strong written and verbal skills to communicate across external suppliers, physicians and internal different departments and all levels of leadership;
• Computer literacy with MS Office applications. Knowledge and experience of inventory and order management platforms (ideally Oracle);
• Relevant healthcare supply chain (warehouse, distribution, inventory, purchasing and scanning) industry knowledge and experience;
• Strong relationship management and communication skills and ability to build and maintain positive working relations in a hospital environment.
