Job Description

Brandt is a leading vendor of Positioning Solutions across Canada serving the construction, surveying, engineering, governmental and agricultural markets. We have leading edge technology that improves our customer’s efficiency and productivity in all the markets we serve. We are looking for a Field Service Technician for our Positioning Technology Division in our new state of the art facility in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a key customer facing position in our pursuit of managing and exceeding our customer expectations.This position is responsible for performing on site and in house installations, calibrations, diagnosis and repairs to various machine control systems. Our solution consist of electronic, mechanical and hydraulic components and are installed on most makes and models of heavy equipment including but not limited to bulldozers, graders, excavators, skid steers and paving equipment.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performing installations, troubleshooting, testing and repairs on state of the art electronics such as machine control systems both 2D and 3D, as well as GPS receivers and our various mobile software platforms.
  • On site and remote customer support
  • Using electronic time keeping system to track daily activities
  • Submission of technician reports
  • Team player, be a resource and integral part of the field service team
  • Travel to various destinations within your territories footprint
  • Ongoing training as new technologies and configurations enter the market
  • Regular and ongoing communications with Field Service Forman, Customers and Sales team
Required Skills
  • Ability to use tools and problem solve
  • Capable of reading and understanding light electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Able to promote a safe work environment in a professional and conscious manner
  • Show initiative in learning about our products and our customer base
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to identify defects and high attention to detail
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to a work schedule
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Required ExperienceIdeal Candidates: Millwright/Mechanic/various other accredited trades. Understanding of electrical schematics, hydraulic systems, machine control systems including to but not limited to Topcon Machine control systems or competitive equipment. The operation of heavy equipment is considered an asset but not required. Some light welding is also beneficial.
