Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION:The Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Ottawa Downtown, conveniently situated in downtown Ottawa, steps from Parliament Hill with subway transportation at the hotel’s front door for easy access to many points of interest including festival venues. The hotel features 171 extended-stay guest rooms under the Homewood Suites by Hilton banner and 175 units providing short-stay accommodations under the Hilton Garden Inn banner and a total of 4,500 square feet of conference space, a bar, restaurant, pool and fitness facility.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hands-on supervisor providing guidance to the service team with positive motivation, and effective communication outlining service expectations of the Food and Beverage Department for the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites.
  • Provide personalized service to Hilton Honors members and guests, acknowledging by name whenever possible.
  • Ensure Tulip Restaurant and Bar are set up according to Hilton’s food and beverage standards and maintaining consistency.
  • All associates are properly trained in accordance with Hilton’s Food and Beverage service standards.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, team building and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all departments including Culinary and Catering team members.
  • Have knowledge of or previous experience in Banquet and Catering roles.
  • Actively supervise the staff assigned and assist in the overall service delivery.
  • Ensure superior cleanliness and quality of the Restaurant, Bar and Meeting rooms.
  • Manage and ensure the continuation of the Operation daily pass over report to all associates and managers.
  • Ensure customers and team members concerns are addressed in a timely manner, professional and efficient.
  • Uphold Health & Safety regulations in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken in the department, and are compliant.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a high-end establishment.
  • Knowledge or previous of Banquet and Catering functions.
  • Exceptional knowledge and passion of food & beverage.
  • Have an out-going personality, a polished image and exceptional communication skills; emphasis on professional, seamless guest service
  • Strong discernment with a high degree of confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills; supporting and encouraging a team-focused work environment
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekdays, nights and weekends
  • Smart Serve Certification is required
  • Experience using a client information database and POS system. ( Micros)
