The posting closes at 12:01am on the morning of the closing date***Reporting to the Chair, Mechanical and Transportation Technology, the incumbent will be responsible for providing maintenance and repair service to the machinery and equipment, inventory control, technical assistance, support and safety compliance to professors and trainees in machining, measurements, strength of materials and metallurgy labs, within the department of Mechanical and Transportation Technology.Duties and Responsibilities:Supplies and supports tools and equipment

  • Enters purchase requisition for supplies and equipment
  • Receives, stores material and supplies when delivered
  • Receives, inspect and install equipment when delivered
  • Monitors instructional, repair, tool and equipment budgets
  • Liaises with suppliers for procurement of services and supplies
  • Maintain tool crib for all programs
  • Selects and prepares tools, equipment, supplies and materials required for each course in coordination with professors and Program coordinator
Installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces machine tools and Equipment
  • Enters purchase requisition for supplies and equipment
  • Plans and performs preventative maintenance schedule
  • Trouble shoots, performs repairs, arranges for work to be performed on a as required basis
  • Assesses working condition and/or usefulness of equipment to be decommissioned
  • Co-ordinates for external suppliers to perform repair on equipment
Assist faculty in practical sessions
  • By proactively ensuring safe practices are applied during lab sessions
  • By providing guidance to students who are in need of assistance
  • By demonstrating workshop equipment and tools to students and new faculty
  • Oversees labs while faculty are away
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Two (2) year diploma or equivalent in Manufacturing, Tool Making, Machinist, Millwright or equivalent fields;
  • Five (5) years experience as millwright or equivalent in installing, repair, troubleshooting, calibrating and operating manual and CNC machine tools and design and manufacturing prototypes.
