We are seeking a dynamic, committed professional to join our team:Investigations Advisor$63,477 to $82,729 ( 10.5 month work year)Reporting to the Manager of Legal Services and Labour Relations, the Investigations Advisor is the primary workplace investigator and advisor with respect to child protection matters. The Investigations Advisor ensures the effective implementation of the Board’s policy and procedures dealing with alleged employee misconduct toward students, including :1) conducting workplace investigations (interviewing students, staff and families);2) ensuring the availability of or referral to appropriate supports for students and families who have been impacted by employee misconduct;3) coordinating and delivering training of OCDSB staff on the policy and procedures as well as on the Duty to Report under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act; and4) providing advice to Principals, Managers and Superintendents on how to prevent and respond to employee misconduct, including alleged child sexual abuse, or other forms of culpable behaviour related to students.Candidate Profile:Familiarity with the Criminal Code of Canada, the rules of evidence and police investigative procedures; Criminal law and the Child, Youth and Family Services Act as it pertains to abuse of children, child abuse detection and reporting, misconduct investigations and clinical treatment of abuse victims;Familiarity with the day to day operations of elementary and secondary schools;Administrative procedures of school boards or other large institutions.Effective interpersonal, leadership and management skills;Excellent written and oral communication skill, including presentation skills;Strong planning and organizations skills;Proficiency with word-processing and electronic mail.Extensive experience interviewing children, andAn understanding of student mental health, student exceptionalities and special education needs is essential, as is knowledge and connections to the various external supports available to students.The successful candidate will hold a university degree with specialization in social work or a related discipline, and 6 years progressively responsible experience in dealing with child protection investigations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
