The candidate must be capable of performing a variety of duties including secure hardware and software provisioning, implementing processes to ensure the smooth and integral operation of company infrastructure, and proactively monitoring for compliance to security standards. The ideal candidate is not only capable of performing these tasks, but can also identify areas for improvement and advise the company on how to strengthen our existing practices. The role’s responsibilities reflect this.

  • Designing and implementing secure customer systems in collaboration with engineering and DevOps team members
  • Facilitating the company’s infrastructure security program
  • Auditing all security, data management, and data access controls practices
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to existing practices
  • Ensuring the organisation remains in compliance with its security requirements, including SOC2 Type 2, and NIST and other US and Canadian federal standards
  • Responding to security incidents, leading postmortems, and solving the underlying issues or implementing mitigations to address them.
  • Automating company compliance, for employee computer systems and the use of third party systems
  • Becoming intimately familiar with the features and controls provided by our existing service providers (including Google Workspace, Atlassian tools, Vanta, and GitLab) to ensure we are taking advantage of useful features
Prerequisites
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an IT specialist or similar position
  • Strong knowledge of networking and security best practices
  • Strong Linux administration knowledge, including network administration
  • Strong cloud administration knowledge, such as GCP or AWS
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Government of Canada security clearance a strong asset, eligibility required
  • Advanced certifications (particularly non-vendor-specific ones) are a strong asset
