Job Description

The TeamNorton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to work in our Ottawa Office in the area of Litigation.The Role

  • Independently manage and organize the daily operations of two to three lawyers in our Litigation Group.
  • Preparing correspondence and legal documents for review, including court documents.
  • Diarize and track deadlines, schedule meetings, and maintain professionals calendars.
  • Handle administrative details with respect to expense reports, the preparation of accounts, travel arrangements, and other administrative matters.
  • Maintain electronic and physical files, including opening and closing files and keeping files up to date.
Skills and Experience Required
  • A minimum of six months of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in Litigation law.
  • College Diploma from a Legal Administrative Assistant, Law Clerk or Paralegal program or a BA in Law would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi task.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Flexible approach to peak work periods.
  • Excellent oral and written language skills and fast and accurate typing speed.
  • Positive attitude, strong client-service skills, and the ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and document management systems.
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
