Job Description

Second Set of Hands (SSOH) is a home organizing and moving specialist company that specializes in home organization, packing and unpacking. Opportunity to move into Lead Organizer and Management positions**Please note: Not all our organizing projects are Pinterest Pretty . Some of our clients are chronically disorganized and our staff work hard at getting their homes decluttered and organized.Part-time Home Organizing Assistant

  • Must be available to work up to 3 full days (not including Sundays)
  • Total number of scheduled hours is based on project requirements
  • Occasional Saturdays and the odd Sundays availability is required
  • Shifts are between the hours of 9:30 am to 4:30pm plus travel time - No evening work
This position is perfect for someone who:
  • Has an appreciation for helping others
  • Is not afraid of working in a dirty and dusty environment (some homes, not all, are full of clutter and dirty)
  • Is comfortable working in homes that have pets
  • Is naturally organized and loves to sort, organize, pack, and unpack
  • Would prefer to work in a client’s home rather than be sitting at a desk all day
  • Has a flexible schedule
  • Is physically fit and able to lift heavy boxes and bags (up to 30 lbs) throughout the shifts
  • Able to stand and bend for long periods of time (up to 8 hour a day)
  • Is passionate about helping clients clear their clutter and get organized
Job Responsibilities
  • Help clients to declutter, organize, create filing systems, maximize space and time
  • Pack up donations, put donations into your vehicle and drop them off
  • Put garbage and recyclables in clients’ garbage area (ex. garage)
  • Recommend organizing products and systems to clients which will help to keep their home organized
  • Carefully wrap, pack and unpack household items for our clients who are moving
  • Maintain a full supply of organizing products on hand
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Perform other duties when required
Requirements:
  • Compassionate, respectful, patient and have an understanding for those who are experiencing stress due to being disorganized and/or moving
  • Valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle is required (mid to large size) as we drive to clients homes all over Ottawa and surrounding areas
  • Live in Ottawa or Nepean area
  • Able to lift 30 pounds - heavy lifting is required
  • Capable of standing and bending for long periods of time (8 hours)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlines
  • Must be willing to work in an environment that may be very dirty and have pets
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Valid certificates or experience in home organizing, staging, moving services, social services, clothing retail is an asset
