The Service provides strategic vision and innovative leadership in managing customer centric sports and recreation venues and programs, including the management of facilities and/or land for the delivery of indoor and outdoor recreation programs and services, and fosters an environment in which Ottawa’s arts, heritage, festival and event sectors can evolve sustainably.You are responsible for providing logistics and equipment support to events at a City facility to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and smooth event experience for the client, stakeholders and all participants, including overseeing the activities at the facility, opening, closing, setup and take down, liaising with other staff, contractors, and external clients to ensure a positive rental experience, and ensuring activities are in accordance with relevant legislation, corporate/departmental policies, and service delivery standards. Performs administrative functions related to the planning, execution and follow up of events.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of 1 year community college program in Event Planning or a related fieldMinimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience supporting event activities, planning or programming in a recreational or related environment.CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCESCurrent Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificatesAODA Customer Service/IASR TrainingKNOWLEDGE

  • Event planning and execution protocols, practices, and techniques
  • Relevant industry regulations/legislation
  • City of Ottawa corporate and departmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
  • Knowledge of technical techniques and practices is an asset

  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Note: Under the age of 18, requires a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check in place of the Vulnerable Sector Check.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
