Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:The Graduate Career Internship Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean, Professional Graduate Programs (PGP), and is supervised by the Team Lead, Professional Graduate Programs. In addition, the incumbent also works closely with the Senior Relations Officer and the Career Management Team to ensure alignment for graduate student needs.The Sprott School of Business values the importance of being creative, caring and connected. As a cultivator of these values, the Professional Development & Graduate Internship Coordinator endeavors to provide an exceptional academic experience so that students are able to achieve their desired level of education in order fulfill their academic and/or life purpose.The Professional Development & Graduate Internship Coordinator is accountable for internship placements for Professional Graduate Programs, including the development and maintenance of partnership relationships with existing internship placement employers, and cultivation and management of partnerships with new employers; provision of coaching and support for all MBA, MAcc and MFin candidates through the internship selection and placement process, including serving as the first point of contact, planning and completing site visits, and updating and maintaining the internship placement database; and provision of advice and recommendations for all areas of responsibility, including communication and marketing of the internship placements.Qualifications:The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Previous Career and or Employment experience
  • Excellent knowledge and current understanding of post-secondary educational services
  • Excellence in teaching, training and/or advising on a 1:1 or small-group basis
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability working with a diverse student body
  • Proven ability to develop, implement and monitor innovative programs at the post-secondary level
  • Strong project management skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • A solid understanding of the University environment
  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of administration and faculty
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional level of initiative and reliability
  • Proficiency in working with MS Office
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of groups, making presentations and/or networking at community events
Education and Experience:The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
  • Honours degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution, preferably in business. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Four years of relevant experience, including project management, and/or recruiting and/or career advising; employment experience with both private and public sectors would be ideal.
  • Experience in working with students and programs would be an asset.
