What you will doThe Patient Education integration manager is integral to advancing TOH’s key pillar of education innovation through commitments to quality care, academic research-educational excellence, and technical systems integration. This role leads the planning-implementation-evaluation for a strategic framework that improves the quality, targeted dissemination, and innovative accessibility of TOH patient and family healthcare education programs and materials. This role executes these responsibilities under the Education and Professional Practice portfolio working with the director and various intra and interorganizational stakeholders to develop and operationalize a vision for patient education in the future.This person will act as a project lead, potential resource, and liaison between various departments (e.g., Fusion, learning experience/Medical education, Nursing Education, Communications etc.) and working groups/committees (e.g. my Chart) associated with developing, disseminating evaluating and integrating patient education across and within different platforms and technical systems. The incumbent is also responsible for overall stakeholder engagement, workplan development/project management, and ensuring that milestones, objectives, and timelines are met.At the end of this contract the patient education manager will have developed and actioned concrete aspects of a vision, framework, IT plan, HR and communication plan, and evaluation strategy in support of patient education that improve targeted quality care outcomes.
  • Formulates work plans in support of developing a TOH patient education vision, department, and program strategy within the education/professional practice portfolio;
  • Provides strategic advice and recommendations to senior leader to support the direction setting on key components of the pt. education program;
  • Develops and implements stakeholder engagement plan and corresponding communication plan;
  • Develops and organizes work plans and timelines to achieve project goals;
  • Identifies and implements project tracking strategies;
  • Communicates information to stake holders in a variety of appropriate and effective formats;
  • Arranges stakeholder meetings, develops agendas, develops, and disseminates minutes;
  • Leads and facilitates discussion and data collection with stakeholders during meetings as required;
  • Provides on-going support/expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders throughout all stages of the project;
  • Ensures change management and project management principles are adhered to as part of the workplan development and implementation process;
  • Reports project progress to stakeholders and project team;
  • Assist with the implementing recommendations and vision for patient education at the hospital;
  • Provide advice, support and decisions related to rolling-out the new systems integrated patient education vision and strategy;
  • Support current patient education initiatives in the hospital (i.e., solution finding to integrate multiple databases/content sources with and towards public facing technical platform);
  • Provide consultative recommendations (e.g., AODA compliance, literacy level, educational/instructional design) for improvement throughout the cycle of patient education;
  • Review and update public facing patient education platforms in conjunction with corporate communication department;
  • In consultation with the Director, Education and Professional Practice the pt. education manager will review stakeholder input and consolidate information;
  • Develops program recommendations and business plan for patient education;
  • Develop submission to internal approving committees and individuals;
  • Work in conjunction with HR department to create HR recommendations for project plan;
  • Develops and delivers presentations to support the portfolio and projects as needed;
  • Engages with external/internal stakeholders and all levels of TOH management to solicit feedback and negotiate the content of the recommendations.
Basic Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Health Administration, Education or Health Informatics;
  • Project Management Certification, Quality Improvement (e.g., LEAN) Certification;
  • 8 (eight) years demonstrated progressive experience in project/program and people management roles;
  • 8 (eight) years demonstrated experience coordinating healthcare education projects/programs;
  • 8 (eight) years demonstrated experience in instructional design including use of various technical tools (e.g., Articulate);
  • 8 (eight) years demonstrated experience with Learning management systems (e.g., ELM, Moodle, Brightspace) and their administration;
  • Working knowledge of applicable legislative educational requirements (e.g., AODA, FIPPA, HIPPA);
  • Deep knowledge of change management, adult education principles and/or other learning theory;
  • Knowledge of health care environment;
  • Knowledge of quality improvement tools and methods.
You will stand out with:
  • 5 (five) years of Manager/Supervisor Education experience within a healthcare organization/professional association (non-profit), private industry;
  • Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
