The posting closes at 12:01am on the morning of the closing date***Under the administrative direction of the Senior Manager, Student Engagement and Initiatives and overarching direction from the College Registrar, the incumbent’s primary responsibility is the planning, organization, promotion, and implementation of the Spring and Fall Convocation Ceremonies for the College. This includes the independent coordination of multi-campus Convocation communications with stakeholders, and event debriefs, evaluations and subsequent recommendations for continuous improvement.The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing the Student Support Services Events Officer and Events Programmer in the AC Hub to provide guidance, assign, coordinate, schedule and implement on-campus and off-campus events, programming and activities related to Student Services and specific promotion of the Registrar’s Office, serving as team lead in those areas. The incumbent acts as the primary liaison and information source to the Registrar and the Registrar’s Office Administrative Team, as well as prospective and current students, College administrative and support staff employees, faculty members, alumni, and the general public.Additionally, the incumbent provides content and input to the Student Services Marketing and Communications team for all events, programming and initiatives, including social media platforms, website updating, video production, editing and design, as well as print materials and poster campaigns.The incumbent will actively seek out feedback following each programmed event and research the ever-changing interests of Algonquin College students, while staying abreast of industry trends, as well as prepare event reports detailing the evaluation and assessment of all respective events, with a mind to continuous improvement. Significant emphasis is placed on interacting with students and their influencers, ensuring those attending the College have a valuable college experience. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a strong liaison between the Student Services area and the College Events Manager.The incumbent will be required to work evenings and weekends as necessary. A Valid Drivers’ License is a requirement for this position.This job requires occasional or regular onsite workRequired Qualifications:

  • Three (3) year diploma or degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Event Management or related field;
  • Minimum of (5) five years experience in planning and implementing events;
  • Experience in communications and leading a team, critical path development;
  • Progressive experience in client-focused post-secondary education is an asset.
