Job Description

General Posting Information POSITION: Team Leader DEPARTMENT: Health Records CONDITIONS: Full-time SHIFTS:Days7.5 hours per shift (subject to change) WAGE RANGE:Scale Minimum MaximumNONU $31.37/hr $37.67/hrRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership in facilitating operational requirements of the Health Records Clerical group.
  • Facilitate change and team growth in support of the hospital and departments goals and objectives.
  • Under the direction of the Director (and/or delegate), the team leader will provide day to day supervision, coaching, leadership to Health Records Clerical personnel and perform all Health Records Clerical duties in all areas of the department.
  • Ensure the team is trained in using multiple and varied information systems and databases (such as but not limited to Meditech) accurately.
  • Participate on interviews and ensure new and existing staff are trained on best practices, protocols, and procedures; Assist the Director in evaluating staff for regular performance appraisals.
  • Liaise with departmental leads, service leads and key stakeholders to ensure that Health Records (clerical) is meeting their records management and release of information needs.
  • Display a welcoming attitude and courteous demeanor in dealing with the staff, public, and physicians.
  • Display discretionary judgment and the ability to diplomatically accommodate requests from QCH departments, physicians, patients, nursing units, and stakeholders for routine and urgent information needs.
  • Display calmness and efficiency when asked to respond to last-minute alterations of departmental needs, staffing needs.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Certificate in Medical Terminology
  • Minimum of 3 years Meditech or equivalent information systems for healthcare
  • Minimum of 3 years Health Records experience and 1 year supervisor experience or minimum of 5 years of related Health Records experience if there is no supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of all clerical areas and records management workflows, including scanning, filing, archiving, chart analysis, forms management, and release of information.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to cope effectively with multiple demands and stressful work environment
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision as a member of a team
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
PREFERRED:
  • Diploma / Degree in related field
