Please apply on Isarta.comhttps://isarta.com/jobs/utm_source=IND&job=85880This position can be based out of any WWF Canada office - Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Saint Johns, Halifax, Iqaluit, and Victoria.OverviewThe Vice President, Communications (VP) ensures that WWF communicates with one voice and that WWFs conservation work is strategically disseminated across traditional and social mediums.Reporting to the SVP, Marketing & Communications, the VP leads a talented team of editors, communications specialists and video, podcast and social media experts that work with all areas of the organization to share WWFs work in a way that educates, engages and motivates the audience to help secure a future where wildlife, nature and people thrive.As a member of WWFs Marketing and Communications leadership team, the VP establishes the communications and media strategy, plan and budget; and works collaboratively with Marketing and Community Giving.The VP maintains deep connections with media leaders and stays abreast of emerging media channels. Experienced in change management, the VP is flexible and eager to try new approaches.Responsibilities

  • Ensures that WWF speaks with one voice
  • Strong strategic approach and the ability to take on complex communications initiatives.
  • Direct the communications, video, podcast and social media teams to enable the development of integrated, external communications campaigns and activities designed to engage audience segments and produce measurable actions and outcomes
  • Develop comprehensive annual communications and media strategy, including email, earned media, social media, print publications, paid media and any other communication tools and techniques that advance organizational objectives, particularly in conservation and fundraising
  • Determine and deliver same-day response to emerging conservation issues requiring immediate comment
  • Contribute to the development of multi-year organizational strategic plans
  • Coach and develop a diverse team of communications and media experts
  • Identify opportunities for WWF leadership to provide expert commentary
  • Support WWF President and CEO and other WWF leaders with key messaging, speaking notes, and speeches as required
  • Advise on handling crisis communications and sensitive public issues
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on department metrics
  • Manage and prepare budgets, financial reports and forecasts
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in communications, journalism, or related fields of comparable work experience
  • 10-12 years of progressive relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading a high-performance team
  • Strong track record of media placement across all platforms
  • Proven experience developing messages on complex issues to support media outreach
  • Demonstrated experience in internal and external collaborations to achieve objectives
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in project management, AGILE preferred
  • Commitment to conservation and sustainability
Experience required:This role requires 10+ years of progressive experience in communications and media, ideally in journalism, digital and social media, and public relations, and exposure to the non-profit industry.
