The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day finance and administrative operations, including financial reporting and analysis, internal controls and auditing, compiling semi-annual reports to the Ministry funders, and preparation, submission and monitoring of the annual budget, as well as identify and implement strategic improvement initiatives.The Pod Group is partnering with this organization to place a compassionate and hands-on leader to fulfill the role of the Director of Finance.PRIORITIES

  • Establishes and oversees the financial control and reporting mechanisms.
  • Provides leadership in maintaining high functioning staff teams and oversee all financial functions pertaining to staff and the programs.
  • Manages the administration of all financial records, accounting processes and monthly accumulative and annual financial reports and statements.
  • Conducts expenditure variance analysis and updates rolling annual forecasts.
  • Presents budget proposals to the Board of Directors for review and approval.
  • Represents the agency in contact with external auditors, representatives of banking institutions, and related government agencies.
  • Participates in ongoing communication and negotiation with the organization #39;s various funding bodies and provides finance-related reports as necessary to funders during the year.
  • Authorizes organizational expenditures within established limits.
  • Provides expert advice and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors regarding financial matters and decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsTALENTSamp; EXPERTISE
  • Minimum three (3) years experience working in a not-for-profit, government-funded organization in a finance management or executive leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of government and funder agency structures, procedures and reporting.
  • Expert knowledge of financial planning, financial management and accounting/ financial reporting systems and procedures to manage the agency’s fiscal and business affairs.
  • Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills to participate in the development of strategic and operational plans and policy recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex ideas to create clarity with diverse audiences with varying levels of issue expertise and understanding.
  • Experience to represent the agency with external contacts and to provide advisory services to the CEO, Board of Directors and committees of the Board.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful and aware manner with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Highly developed technical and analytical skills with ability to use expert level judgment for strategic thinking and problem solving.
