SOWINS operates a transitional and second stage housing facilities, as well as counselling and outreach services. At SOWINS we work from an intersectional feminist philosophy and support trauma-informed practice and harm reduction models.ABOUT THE ROLE:The Finance Officer will serve as an essential partner and strategic advisor to the Executive Director and Executive Team, playing a key role in collaboratively shaping the long-term financial strategy and success of SOWINS. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position holds responsibility for providing strategic financial leadership and oversight of the SOWINS overall well-being including investments, asset management, capital projects, insurance, enterprise risk management/compliance, financial process improvement, finance and accounting policy development and business planning. An emphasis is on standardizing and improving core financial and accounting operations and processes while managing compliance/risk. This role requires an individual with superior communication skills, outstanding relationship building abilities, and a strong financial management background.The successful candidate will have relevant education, training and/or professional development with a diploma or degree in Business Administration, their CPA or CFA designation (or working towards) and a minimum of five (5) years experience with finance and accounting preferably within a unionized setting or the non-profit sector.At SOWINS we offer a competitive benefit package!
