Job Description

The YMCA of Okanagan has been successfully providing direct services to children ages 0-6 for over 30 years. In addition to licensed childcare and child and youth programs, the Kelowna Family YMCA also provides free parent participation early years services. These programs integrate socializing, learning, and play opportunities for children ages 0-6 with individualized service navigation support for vulnerable families._Reporting to the Community Manager, the Program Leader ensures registered programs will support children’s developmental growth in a safe and fun environment while instilling the Y’s core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty. The candidate is outgoing, personable, resourceful, well-organized, with superior interpersonal skills, and communicates with families in a professional manner.   • Supports implementation of play based educational programming
  • Maintains safety and supervision of children and families
  • Builds healthy relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Actively interacts with children ages 0-6 as a play partner
  • Connects caregivers with appropriate and beneficial community resources for child development and support
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment for program set up and take down
Qualifications:
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C (or willingness to obtain)
  • ECE-A certification considered an asset
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion in helping children achieve their fullest potential through purposeful programming and implementation.
  • Knowledge of community resources and family centered organizations in the Central Okanagan

Position Details: Hours: 8am-1:30pm - 5 days per week*The YMCA’s Commitment to Trust, Safety and Equality: *As part of a trusted charitable organization, you can expect to receive excellent services and safety training throughout your YMCA career.   • Provide 3 references of a professional in nature (e.g. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague)
