  • Beauvais Lake Provincial Park (Pincher Creek)
  • Park Lake Provincial Park (Lethbridge)
For more information on these Parks, visitRoleIn this role, you will oversee and perform routine and preventative maintenance and custodial duties within Provincial Parks and Provincial Recreation Areas. The majority of work for this position is completed outdoors and requires daily handling of chemicals, hand and power tools. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Major responsibilities include:Supervision & Leadership – Provide staff training, support and mentorship; coordinate day-to-day activities and schedules; act as a key contact between program areas in the park by meeting regularly with other program leads as needed.Cleaning & Custodial Duties – Ensure facilities are cleaned and maintained to Alberta Parks’ standards; perform cleaning duties alongside other staff members which includes cleaning bathrooms, shower houses, campsites and garbage disposal.Landscaping & Facility Maintenance – Operate power and hand tools to complete repairs and preventative maintenance tasks; install signage; groom park green areas and trails systems; cut grass with riding mowers weed control; paint structures; support tree removal and drainage work.Administrative & Customer Service - Ensure staff adhere to all pertinent policies, procedures, and protocols, including Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS standards, campground regulations, and GOA directives; lead and participate in emergency protocols to provide support to visitors and staff in an emergency situation; oversee staff schedules and timesheet entries.QualificationsEducation:
  • Some high school education plus one year related experience
Additional requirements:
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license; must be willing to provide driver’s abstract and obtain Defensive Driver’s certification upon hiring, prior to first day of work
  • Available to work weekend and evening shifts during the season
  • Recognized Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization and teamwork skills
  • Good working knowledge in operation, maintenance and safety of small equipment, hand tools and power tools
Assets:
  • WHIMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training
  • Chainsaw certification
  • Experience in cleaning/custodial work or landscape maintenance
  • Effective time management, strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of park facilities/services, especially the parks in Southwest Alberta
  • Familiarity with campground operations
  • Excellent communication, customer service and team work skills
  • Previous work experience with Alberta Environment and Parks

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
NotesTerms of Employment
  • Fulfill seasonal contract (anticipated late April – September/October 2022)
  • Weekend work will be required; premium is paid for these shifts
  • Hours of employment are up to 40 hours per week, with shifts scheduled up to 8 hours
  • Access to reliable transportation to and from place of work
  • Adherence to Alberta Parks Uniform Policy
  • These positions require outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions
Additional Information
