Job Description

Job SummaryAkamihk Kanataskiy Ventures (AKV) Limited works directly with leading industry partners to implement professional and technical services. AKV is building growth opportunities in all the key markets that it serves.AKV is hiring heavy equipment operators to assist in the operation and maintenance of projects including, but not limited to, remediation and reclamation work. Successful candidates will be responsible for operating dump trucks, crew cab trucks, dozers, excavators, and more. Furthermore, heavy equipment operators will provide leadership support to labourers and site supervisors, as needed.Responsibilities: Minimum Requirements

  • Education – high school or equivalent, skilled trade school, heavy equipment operating
  • Safety Tickets – ESC common safety orientation, ESC confined spaces, ESC fall protection, H2S alive, CSTS, FIT testing, standard first aid, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
  • Steel toe work boots. Other personal safety gear is an asset.
  • Ability to work and travel in various terrains, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
  • A commitment to community and safety protocols.
Experience
  • Perform basic labour duties, as assigned, such as: operating hand and power tools including chainsaws with exposure to noise and vibration.
  • May operate equipment that involves extended seated work with exposure to rough ground conditions, vibrations, bumping and jostling.
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Abilities, skills, and knowledge
  • Adequate hearing to receive instructions and detect safety signals.
  • Expresses thoughts clearly and succinctly, both orally and in writing; able to tailor communication to different audiences; displays the ability to think from various rightsholders and stakeholder perspectives and apply critical analysis to decision making.
  • Language - Good analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized and accuracy with details.
  • Strong team player and ability to work independently.
  • Result driven, logic thinking, smart working, fast leaner, easy to adapt to dynamic environment.
  • Confident, proactive, mature, flexible and think positive.
  • Ability to conduct physically demanding duties such as heavy lifting or assisting others in completing their work.
  • Ability to fill out and participate in the company and clients required documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Language abilities - Cree.
  • Equipment operating experience (200 hours minimum).
  • Ability to pass client requirements including, but not limited to, drug and alcohol testing.
