The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) delivers programs and services through a lens of reconciliation, as we have been doing since the inception of the PGNFC for the past 50+ years.   • Act as a strong and positive role model;
  • Coordinating with internal/external community resources;
  • Organize, facilitate, and evaluate programming targeted to youth in care;
  • Educate youth on their Rights of Care (Child, Family and Community Service Act, Section 70); and
  • Provide cultural, social and recreational activities that build self-esteem while respecting Indigenous traditions and cultural values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Social Services Diploma or (minimum) 2 years related post-secondary education;
  • Experience in child and youth care;
  • Willingness and ability to work with high-risk youth;
  • Awareness of community services, resources, and systems;
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal groups/communities in a cultural context;
  • Certification: First Aid, Class 4 Driver #39;s License, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe; or the willingness to obtain;
  • Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search;
  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry. In accordance with section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code; and
  • Our starting wage $28.51/hr. - $31.51/hr. based on qualifications and experience.
