Job Description

Position Overview:Our team has an opening for a General Labourer and are looking for a motivated team member to work in a fast-paced boat building and repair environment. We are seeking a team member with shipyard experience but will consider all applicants. This position will be both inside working on new build and outside repairing boats on the slip.Benefits:This position is permanent full-time. We offer a competitive wage based on experience, paid Holiday shutdown, Group Insurance, and a bonus of $2.50/hr if 40 hours are worked.Work Environment: Outside, heavy lifting, work in shop, wet/damp, work from heights aboard fishing vessels.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine physical labour; moving materials, tools, and or equipment;
  • Cleaning equipment, vehicles, machinery, and work areas;
  • Completing minor carpentry tasks;
  • Operating various types of tools
  • Brush roll and hand brush painting;
  • May serve as trades helpers;
  • Assisting with securing and dry docking vessels;
  • Assisting with setting up and removing staging and shelters;
  • Operate as fire watch for hot work or confined space work;
  • Depending on skills and experience, may be asked to assist with minor mechanical and fiberglass repairs;
  • Will be exposed to environmental elements as work is conducted inside and outside throughout the year
  • Other duties as instructed by his/her Supervisor and/or Manager
Requirements:
  • Previous shipyard experience an asset but not required
  • Basic carpentry skills an asset
  • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts, marine slips, and gangways (onboard ships);
  • Possess the ability to work well both with a team or unsupervised;
  • Dependable, organized and a team player
  • Valid drivers license (for offsite work, transportation provided to and from Belliveau shipyard to offsite worksite)
  • Steel toed boots (all other PPE is provided)
