JOB SUMMARY:The Specialist is accountable to provide subject matter expertise and administration of a specialized function. As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position is responsible for performing complex land related duties associated with securing and maintaining land rights and other land related matters.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:• Plan, research, develop, evaluate and implement processes, policies and procedures utilized for the development of strategies and business initiatives that address the organization’srequirements• Act as a subject matter expert in a specialized function to develop, implement, coach and assist management staff in the administration and interpretation of corporate policies; providing advicethat is appropriate, practical and consistent with relevant legislation, regulations, laws and/or industry standards• Identify new business solutions and operational efficiencies, while providing recommendations which have a significant impact on SaskPower’s business operations and strategies• Lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects to provide functional expertise for corporate and departmental strategic planning initiatives• Represent the department and prepare and present material to internal and external audiences as required• Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices related to area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower’s operational environment• Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as requiredKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:• Degree in Geography, Commerce, Law, Agriculture or Environmental Design,or other related equivalent AND/OR;• Diploma in a related discipline and two years directly related experience AND/OR;• Grade 12 plus introductory level in a real estate certificate/designation program and four years of directly related experience.• Must be eligible to qualify for Commissioner for Oaths;• A designation from the International Right-of-Way Association would be considered an asset.• Possess a valid Province of Saskatchewan Driver #39;s Licence and prepared to travel throughout Saskatchewan.• Demonstrated high level of initiative and motivation to simultaneously handle a multitude of complex property related assignments, provide property related expertise, identify operationalimprovements and resolve land related issues in a team environment.• Understanding of corporate land policies, regulation and legislation regarding land use and land management.• Ability to understand and interpret survey plans, legal land descriptions, engineering and construction drawings and land-related agreements.• Efficient with computers utilizing corporate software applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, SAP, etc.).• Understanding of land use and land management techniques and familiarity with electric transmission and distribution line construction standards and agricultural practices.• Demonstrated commitment to personal learning and technical/professional development and willingness to keep abreast of industry trends and practices.• Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies• Must have a continuing record of professional developmentA suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be consideredSaskatchewan Power Corporation
