Job Description

The Alberta Government awarded SEST to CRP to design, build, partially finance and maintain the SEST project over a 33-year term. The construction period began the spring of 2010 and was completed in the fall of 2013. It is followed by a 30-year operations and maintenance term. CRP is a General Partnership formed by SNC-Lavalin Inc. and Maple Chinook Roads GP Inc. At the time of construction, SEST was the largest single highway project in Alberta’s history, and its largest P3 road infrastructure project.The project consists of the construction and maintenance of 25 kilometers of six-lane roadway, 9 interchanges, 1 road flyover, 2 rail flyovers and 27 bridge structures, as well as 12 kilometers of Deerfoot Trail between Stoney Trail SE (currently Highway 22X) and the Highway 2A junction.How will you contribute to the teamThis is a full-time role based in Calgary (240045 Frontier Place SE, Rocky View County). Reporting will be to the Technical Director, Southeast Stoney Trail. The successful candidate will contribute by:

  • Inspecting the road network and structures to ensure adequate maintenance in compliance with the Project Agreement.
  • Maintaining records of asset condition.
  • Coordinating with O&M Contractor on reporting and repair timelines.
  • Overseeing rehabilitation projects.
  • Preparing tender and contract documents.
  • Undertaking risk assessments.
  • Overseeing facility inspections and maintenance.
  • Coordinating repairs and rehabilitation to facility structures.
  • Lifecycle analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Assisting the Technical Director as needed.
What will you contributeQualifications –
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Registered or eligible to register with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
  • 3-5 years of experience in the transportation industry.
  • Possession of an Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of transportation facilities preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a P3 environment, preferred but not required.
Requirements –Demonstrated experience in:
  • Knowledge of Alberta Transportation Highway and Bridge design standard and specifications.
  • Reading and interpreting highway construction plans and interpreting specifications.
  • Field inspection of bridge and road construction.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering and roadway design practices.
  • Safe work practices and incident investigation.
  • Use of computer design software, word and excel.
  • Document control management for project records.
  • Risk management including identification, consequences, mitigation.
  • Reviewing contractor submittals, determining compliance and preparing written responses.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic with the desire and ability to meet deadlines and achieve project goals.
