Job DescriptionThis is an opportunity for a career with an industry leader in North America with ambitious growth plans and market demand driving it. All in The Kootenays, in Beautiful British Columbia.The Health & Safety Advisor will be present in the field to encourage compliance for H&S in a live plant with high volume shipping and receiving activity. Each advisor will coordinate a team of about 20 workers whose tasks are a mix of industrial machine operation and general labor with Hazardous Materials and need for PPE. The position reports directly to the Director of Operations and will work closely with the training coordinator who ensures that all workers are trained in the Safe Work Procedures specific to their job.This role is based in Rossland, BC working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.Tasks
  • Implement and adapt our EH&S Program in compliance with local, provincial (WCB), and federal rules and regulations.
  • Conduct training as required.
  • Partner with operations leaders and workers to plan complex jobs and execute safely.
  • Regularly inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident, safety and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Lead and document the investigation of accidents and injuries.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments, standard operating procedures, health and safety policies/guidelines.
  • Coordinate Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee Meetings.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years experience if combined with 3 years of Heavy Industrial Plant Operational experience.
  • 5 years of EH&S work experience, with some Industrial workplace experience would be preferred.
  • Familiar with the federal and BC regulations (WorkSafeBC) is a preference.
  • Enjoys hands-on work, in the field, alongside production teams.
