The District administers the road and bridge maintenance contracts, portions of the rehabilitation program, development approvals and support for the provincial capital program. The operations of each district support the growth and development of the provincial economy. District operations are the direct link between the ministry and the public/stakeholders providing a key transportation link in a multi-model environment.Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the position administers the bridge maintenance program for an assigned portion of one or more Contract Areas to ensure safety and convenience of the motoring public.   • Secondary School graduation and a minimum of six (6) years *related experience; OR
  • Diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology (e.g. Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC) in civil engineering, structural engineering or related field of study and three (3) years *related experience; OR
  • BCIT Bridge Area Manager Certification and four (4) years *related experience.
  • Other combination of related education and experience may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers license in good standing.
  • Successful completion of the Bridge Area Manager Certification within 18 months.
  • Related experience must include the following:
  • Experience associated with bridge structural technology and the manufacture, erection or maintenance of bridge components.
  • Experience with quality management audits together with successful completion of a recognized Quality Management System (internal auditor) training course.
Preference may be given to:
  • Applicants who possess the BCIT (or another Technical Institution) Bridge Area Manager Certification.
  • Applicants with experience in the field of Transportation & Infrastructure.
NOTE: The Bridge Area Manager Certification through BCIT is required to be appointed to the AO 24 level. Successful applicants who have not received a certificate of completion would have to complete the certificate within 18 months and will be under-implemented at the AO 21 level until completion,Provisos

  • May be required to use personal vehicle for work purposes.
