More information can be found here.Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMBC’s mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMBC works directly with local governments, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.The Manager develops broad, comprehensive plans to prepare for disaster and emergency recovery events and leads the administration of funding programs. Comprehensive emergency management considers recovery among all community members, including local government bodies, individuals and families, business owners and non-profit organizations. The Manager provides advice and recommendations to executives regarding all aspects of recovery activities and strives to ensure outcomes are consistent with EMBC priorities. The Manager works in close collaboration with senior representatives of EMBC, all levels of government, First Nations, and the private and non-profit sectors. In provincial emergencies, the Manager contributes to the establishment of provincial emergency coordination and/or response/recovery centres; and fulfills a key role in the leadership and oversight of recovery operations.
