Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITYSlegg Building Materials in Keating is currently seeking a Full-time Cashier to work Tuesday through Saturday 9am-5:30pm. The pay range is $16.50-$17.50 per hour.THE LOCATION – SAANICHTON (Keating)We are located on Keating Cross Road in the commercial district of Saanichton which is on the Saanich Peninsula of Greater Victoria. Saanichton is a bountiful countryside where rural and urban lifestyles blend together. Bed and breakfast homes and riding stables are nestled alongside parks, campgrounds, old-growth forests and small farms. This area was first inhabited by the Wsanec First Nations people, who now live in four communities on the Saanich Peninsula; Tsartlip, Tsawout, Pauquachin, and Tseycum. This inclusive and knowledgeable close-knit team enjoy working together. We are excited to offer monthly breakfast or lunch events once again to our staff.THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and assist customers with purchases
  • Process all point of sale, returns and payment on account transactions at the cashier counter in an efficient, accurate and friendly manner
  • Answering phones
  • Updating price labels and signage
  • Maintain product displays on selling floor in immediate area
  • Provide suggestions and recommendations on products and materials
  • General housekeeping duties including cleaning displays and sanitizing high touch areas and carts.
  • Disinfect and clean counter tops, phones and keyboards
  • Disinfecting and putting away returns
  • Cover service desk as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by management
THE REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous cashier experience is an asset
  • Attention to detail
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a past paced environment during peak periods
  • Ability to work independently and as team
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Physical requirements include:
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs
    • Standing for long periods of time
