Job Description

The Hospitality Coordinator ensures that Sea Cider’s tasting visitors and event guests have an excellent experience and that Sea Cider’s hospitality goals are achieved. They supervise a team of Hospitality Associates and make sure their team members are trained and successful.Duties

  • Leadership: Leads the Hospitality Team, whose members include Tasting Guides, Tasting Hosts, Event Servers and Event Hosts. Hospitality includes cider tastings, tours, events, and other experiences on the farm.
  • Teamwork: Works in collaboration with the Retail Product Sales Team and the Event Sales & Coordination Team.
  • HR management: Trains, schedules, and supervises Hospitality staff. Assists with recruitment. Conducts performance reviews. Leads the Daily Hospitality Huddle and participates in Cross Team Coordination meetings. Assigns tasks to Hospitality staff. Receives input from Sea Cider’s Special Event Coordinator on scheduling staff for events.
  • Hosting: Acts as the Tastings Host, greeting and seating visitors.
  • Inventory Management: Manages inventory associated with Hospitality (planning, purchasing, re-ordering, counting, resolving discrepancies, etc.). Tracks breakage, stock and other data.
  • Manages both tasting reservations and the event bookings calendar; coordinates with Sea Cider’s Special Events Coordinator to ensure that event bookings and tasting reservations are in sync, ensuring a smooth transition between daily tastings and special events.
  • Collaborates with other Team Leaders and Management to plan the seasonally updated food and beverage menu
  • Provides insights to Marketing Specialist and Management to assist with revenue growth and improvement plans
  • Collaborates with other Team Leaders and Management on projects and new initiatives to improve the visitor experience, acting frequently as Project Lead on Hospitality-related projects
  • Facility maintenance: informs Operations Manager of equipment issues, assist with coordinating/scheduling maintenance; undertakes minor/routine maintenance (e.g. weeding outdoor service areas, watering plants, deep cleaning dishwasher, etc)
  • Oversees financial transactions in Hospitality: ensures that Hospitality staff are correctly processing payments; manages the Hospitality float (kept in the Pavilion during the off season)
  • Assists the Operations Manager and other Team Leaders with other duties when requested
Job Requirements/Qualifications:This position requires a positive professional with an exceptional track record in customer service in the food and beverage industry who is excited by the opportunity to work for a community-minded yet growth-oriented company. In addition, the position requires:
  • Education: Post secondary degree and/or diploma/certification - required
  • Industry experience: At least 3 years of experience in either the events, hospitality or food and beverage sector - required
  • Vocational experience: At least 3 years of experience hosting, serving food or serving beverages - required
  • HR management: experience training, scheduling, and supervising staff - required. A willingness to learn leadership skills and implement best practices in team building and team work
  • Communication skills, both written and oral: excellent
  • Software experience: fluency in standard industry software tools, and a willingness to learn new programs
  • A gift for customer service and a proven track record in problem solving, resolving customer complaints successfully, and avoiding complaints in the first place!
  • Personal aptitude: a high degree of professionalism, initiative and personal accountability for meeting team goals. Excellent coordination skills. A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to get the job done. Curiosity, great listening skills and an openness to feedback.
  • Work week flexibility: Able to work Wednesday through Sunday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. A willingness to work flexible hours, depending on the season.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 kg several times daily (cases of cider, stacks of chairs, for example) and to work walking and standing up, indoors and outdoors, rain or shine, for several hours at a time
  • A desire to work for a business that is growing and seeking to continually improve

  • Salary/Wage: $50,000 to $53,000 (base salary plus share of tips pool)
