Saanich RdSaanichton, British ColumbiaV8M 1K1, CanadaJob DescriptionTHE OPPORTUNITYWe are currently recruiting for a part-time Operations Administrator to support our Saanich Forestry Center in Saanichton, BC.What You’ll Do: As the Operations Administrator you will act as the primary support role for the operations in areas such as safety administration, timekeeping, administration, finance support including Accounts Payable, and other general office administration duties.Who You Are: This is a great opportunity for someone with at least 2-3 years of experience in administration who is looking to continue developing their skills in a new environment. You excel at tasks that involve strong attention to detail, are a self-starter, and you can keep yourself organized. The ideal candidate will have a strong comfort level working in Microsoft Excel, familiarity with the other programs in the MS Office Suite and experience in safety administration and accounts payable is a definite asset.Working Environment: This position is based out of our Saanich Forestry Center office. This is a casual, part-time, non-unionized role and consists of 20 hours per week. This working environment provides an opportunity for the Administrator to work flexible hours with a work-life balance in mind.RESPONSIBILITIESProvide support to implement Western’s Safety program, including maintaining records, tracking safety inspections, tracking the Annual Safety Improvement Plan and safety reporting;Provide support for financial duties including managing POs, AP, month-end processes, invoice coding and other duties as required;Provide support to the administration of the training manager database;Provide Timekeeping and Benefits administration support;Provide administrative support to recruitment, training and onboarding initiatives as required;Provide administrative support to Manager, Supervisors and employees as required; and,Other duties are required and assigned.QUALIFICATIONSEducation And ExperienceA degree, diploma or certification in Administration or Business Management preferred;Ideally 2-3 years’ administration experience; and,Experience in forestry or similar environment an asset.Skills, Knowledge And Required CompetenciesMust be proficient with MS Office suite and database management, including a demonstrated ability to build spread sheets;Accountable and organized with the ability to re-prioritize on an as needed basis;Analytical thinking and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team;Excellent verbal and written communication skills targeted at all levels of the organization; and,Willingness to learn with an open and proactive attitude.WESTERN OVERVIEWWestern Forest Products is a leading forest products company that manufactures high-quality wood products and sustainably manages forests.
