Challenging work, welcoming communities, and expanded opportunities are some of the benefits offered to employees of the NTHSSA.Job InformationSCOPEUnder the direction of the Minister of Health and Social Services, the NTHSSA is established to move toward one integrated delivery system as part of the governments transformation strategy. Located in Sachs Harbour and reporting to the Regional Supervisor Community Wellness based in Inuvik, the CWW is a part of the regional Community Counseling Program team providing services to communities in the Beaufort Delta Region. CWW is responsible for serving their community and the region by working with individuals within communities who express a desire to improve their overall health and well-being in the community environment.The positions home office is located in Sachs Harbour health Centre, however, the majority of the time will be spent in the community, at the school, community centre and other relevant sites. The CCW provides education, prevention and health promotion initiatives to all members of the community to achieve a better understanding of the issues surrounding cultural identity, mental health, addictions and family violence and with linkages to school and community to determine supports needed. This involves working with various stakeholders, Indigenous leadership and the general public including a diverse population (elders, adults, adolescents, children and families). The CWW works collaboratively with other social and medical professionals as well as organizations and professionals in the community and outside of the health and social services system to meet the overall goals and objectives.The CWW will also be responsible for outreach, promoting engagement of at-risk-adults and youth and their families in the community and increasing access to opportunities to address mental health and addiction services. Youth outreach occurs away from the office at various community locations or settings, including the school, and community centre. This includes referral services for youth-at-risk and the support and encouragement to assist youth to make proper use of referrals. Outreach will include linkages to the community programs and agencies to facilitate contacts and services specifically for youth and will include advocacy and collaboration, to find solutions and resources to address youth, social, behavioural, and cultural development.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
