The Opportunity:The successful candidate will be a team member at a dermatology office assisting physicians with assigned patient care, office administrative tasks, and operational tasks as assigned. The candidate will be an energetic and enthusiastic individual who can anticipate the needs of the clinic physicians and patients in the clinic. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of and in collaboration with the physicians. This person will be responsible for facilitating patient flow and helping to ensure that the clinic operates smoothly, ensuring examination rooms are clean, tidy and restocked with the required supplies.A Day in the Life (What you will do here):
  • Assist physicians when required in the care of dermatology patients.
  • Assigning patients to clinic rooms once registered into their appointment
  • Assisting patients to be prepared for physician arrives in room (changing into gown, setting up room with supplies/equipment required for appointment, etc)
  • Assisting physician with medical procedures when required (sample labeling, applying surgical dressing/band-aid, etc)
  • Documenting notes in patient files as taught and directed
  • Cleaning patient rooms after visits
  • Sterilization of equipment when required
  • Familiarize daily patient appointments and prepare in advance for known procedures or patient activities
  • Pass, collect, clean and disinfect during and after procedures
  • Collect skin samples/tissue removal as instructed (per physician teachings)
  • Restock clinic rooms daily with required supplies daily
  • Dispose of tissue samples as instructed (per office teachings)
  • Obtains patient weights as prescribed/when necessary
  • Operate the autoclave
  • Perform and record for assigned lab tests in the office (eg. uninalysis dip) as required (as educated by physician)
  • Ordering of healthcare supplies for office and maintaining quotas for scheduled activity
  • Assisting with any assigned treatments and dermatology procedures as required by the physician
  • Participate as a team player in coordinating daily flow of care for patients
  • Provide input into projects that require teamwork and coordination of all team members
  • Attend all in-services, educational opportunities, discussions or meetings as directed.
  • Additional duties as assigned by your manager.
What you need to ensure you are set up for success:
  • High School graduation or equivalent, plus an additional course in Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aid Course or equivalency.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in all job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and confidentiality.
  • Physically able to perform all assigned duties
  • Neat and clean in appearance
  • Good previous work record
  • Energetic personality that shares a passion for delivering great assistance to patients
