Job DescriptionAmerican Ironamp; Metal is a growth-oriented metal recycling and processing company located in Saint John, New Brunswick. We are currently recruiting for a Transport Manager for our Atlantic location.The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing ground transportation activities for sites in the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. This role includes managing a team consisting of 2 transport dispatchers and 25 drivers located throughout the Atlantic provinces. The manager must ensure compliance with safety laws and regulations, transportation compliance, and adherence to government regulations. Additionally, they will be responsible for implementing best practices within the transport industry.Furthermore, the selected candidate will need to collaborate with various stakeholders in the daily management of operations to ensure compliance, road safety, health and safety, and quality of service. They will work closely with the Senior Director of Transport to identify opportunities for improving the efficiency of the entire operation.ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will be responsible for :

  • Acting as a logistics specialist for the organization.
  • Managing drivers on a day-to-day basis, ensuring their commitment to properly respond to customer and business needs.
  • Ensuring drivers #39; adherence to company practices in compliance, road safety, health and safety, and efficiency.
  • Analyzing performance indicators (KPIs) and working on improvements related to these indicators.
  • Collaborating with AIM sites and dispatchers to ensure timely and accurate material supply to appropriate sites.
  • Analyzing and optimizing the efficiency of movements, routes, and weekly driver management.
  • Ensuring proper use of systems and procedures and providing continuous training on best practices.
  • Continuously seeking cost and operational improvements and taking necessary measures to achieve these goals.
  • Reviewing the ground transportation network to find new ways to maximize the volume and weight of products transported while minimizing operating costs.
  • Ensuring that transport-related equipment (tractors and trailers) is properly used, maintained, and repaired in a timely manner, and that record-keeping complies with Atlantic and Quebec Ministry of Transport laws and regulations.
  • Ensuring that independent truckers adhere to company guidelines and that all transportation and rental contracts and insurance documentation are up to date and stored in an organized manner.
  • Holding periodic safety meetings with company drivers in collaboration with the Compliance, Road Safety, and Healthamp; Safety teams.
  • Implementing special projects or performing other tasks as requested by management.
Essential tasks:Oversee the daily activities of 25 drivers assigned to the Atlantic region.Manage the dispatch team effectively.Attend meetings related to the Atlantic region and the transportation department.Perform all tasks related to supervision.Resolve issues related to the transport of materials.Ensure the implementation and adherence to best management practices
