The Turnaround Inspection Coordinator will play a key role in the turnaround planning and execution activities at our Saint John Refinery. This role involves managing numerous activities which can vary in nature from technical, budgetary, and people management all at once. Under the guidance of the Turnaround Inspection Team Lead, you will prepare for and manage the execution of turnaround inspection activities to ensure that all assets are fit for service while also ensuring internal integrity processes and procedures are maintained and followed. Your roles and responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the planning and execution of inspection activities during highly complex turnaround events
  • Work on a fast pace team with members from various areas of the organization
  • Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines concurrently
  • Acting as both an asset integrity technical expert as well as a leader that can oversee and speak to the work of others
  • Make impactful decisions that affect both the current as well as future turnaround events with safety and reliability at the forefront
  • Develop and manage to an approved budget
  • Facilitate problem solving, root cause and fixed equipment risk management processes
  • Assess the condition of equipment and fixed assets, recommend and advocate solutions
  • Require a strong technical aptitude with a thorough understanding of both API and NDE inspection techniques as well as the damage mechanisms and their impact in a refining environment
  • Demonstrate safety practices with all procedures
  • Ensure that all asset integrity processes and procedures are maintained and followed
  • Evaluate data involving the use of corrosion rates, remaining life, level 1 fitness for service, and RBI
  • Maintain reporting and record keeping to department policy and standards
Professional skills
  • S afety as-a-way-of-life mindset along with a mechanical and/or materials engineering aptitude
  • Strong knowledge of all types of fixed equipment and piping
  • Previous experience in damage mechanism identification and corrosion analysis is an asset
  • Analytical mindset to perform risk analyses in specified areas of the refinery
  • Experience developing inspection plans based on RBI methodologies
  • Project budget management experience
  • Able to work in the field: this includes working in year-round weather conditions, able to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, etc. and able to lift up to 20lbs. You must be comfortable with high elevation climbing, working at heights, and in enclosed spaces. You must be able to wear full PPE as required by safety standards
  • Strong analytical skills; you enjoy getting to the root cause of issues and creating plans to address them
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to all company standards, industry recommended practices, codes and standards
  • A focus on continuous improvement; with the ability to work with others to come up with solutions that minimize downtime and maximize equipment function, while minimizing refinery risk.
  • Experience dealing with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new programs
  • Knowledge of MS office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Meridium Asset Management software considered an asset
Travel
  • Travel is not a requirement for this position
Education and experience
  • Education in a relevant trade, engineering (mechanical, materials, chemical, etc.), or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial plant or refinery setting considered an asset
  • API certifications 570, 571, 510 or 653, and / or NDE certifications are a definite asset
  • Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License
