Please proceed using the link: https://app.traits.com/survey/a56e7669-2ba6-4573-83cd-800831da5362POSITION OVERVIEW:Startec Refrigeration Service is currently recruiting a Mechanical or Chemical Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Engineering.This position will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems and preparation of engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, and reports.KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):SYSTEM DESIGNamp; ENGINEERING (Weighting 45%)

  • Complete heat load calculations, and other equipment sizing calculations as required.
  • Size and select major equipment including vessels, compressors, evaporators, valves, pumps, chillers, etc.
  • Size and select valves including control valves and PSVs.
  • Piping and ductwork design include sizing, pipe layout, and selection of appropriate piping materials and fabrication methods.
  • Develop P amp;ID drawings, piping drawings, vessel drawings, and other equipment drawings.
  • Develop mechanical room layouts, overall facility equipment layouts, and layouts for skid systems.
  • Preparation of project documentation including operating and control philosophies.
DESIGN COODRINATION (Weighting 45%)
  • Work directly with the Director of Engineering in the design and execution of projects (big and small).
  • Work with other disciplines, owners, consultants, general contractors, and clients to coordinate the design of buildings and other supporting infrastructure including supporting electrical and control systems.
  • Attend design coordination meetings.
  • Work with internal or external piping designers to develop 3D models of mechanical systems and piping.
  • Develop project bill of materials (BOM) and issue to the project manager for procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Review and coordinate shop drawings for equipment and materials.
  • Resolve issues, provide direction, and conduct quality assurance checks on project deliverables.
  • Provide engineering support to the field construction team during all phases of projects, including execution and commissioning.
TRAININGamp; DEVELOPMENT (Weighting 10%)Trainingamp; Development
  • Assist with training and mentoring engineers in training.
  • Maintain Continuous Professional Development by reading relevant journals, and attending specialized training, industry conferences, and courses as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • P.Eng. designation in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of three to five years of experience.
  • Good knowledge of ASME/ANSI/codes, CSA
  • Microsoft Windows operating systems; Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), engineering design and drawing software.
  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD to develop drawings.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate, influence, negotiate and resolve conflict
  • Capable of working with minimal direct supervision.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective time management skills and can take responsibility / accountability for several large complex projects at once.
  • Fabrication or construction experience will be an asset
