Job Description

As part of the Java Group, Victor Energy has over 50 years of experience building some of Canada’s largest electrical infrastructure projects. And as our team grows as projects are beginning to take off, we are seeking an On-site Safety Advisor to provide support to our project execution team. In this position you will apply your experience in OHS leadership, safe work methodology, and standardized best practices, to support our projects and trade staff in Alberta, Saskatchewanamp; Manitoba.This position is a field-based positionRequirements

  • Experience with orientations, inspections, incident reporting
  • Monitor credentials and qualifications to ensure compliance for employees and subcontractors
  • Identify and mitigate hazards at site including walkthroughs as appropriate
  • Ensuring employees coming on site have the proper training tickets including fall protection, equipotential bonding and grounding, First Aid, WHMIS/GHS, etc
  • Determine ways of reducing risks
  • Compiling statistics and writing reports
  • Able to work 21amp; 7 shift on projects across Canada
Your background and credentials would include:
  • 5 + years of field OHS Leadership experience in the energy sector, preference to utility construction
  • Minimum, active National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), professional accreditations (CRSP,CUSP,CHSE etc.) are an asset.
  • Excellent organizationalamp; time management skills, with the strong ability to work independently and / or as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the development and implementation of project specific safety plansamp; training.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable provincial health and safety legislation, client specific requirements, and company policy.
  • Develop and implement project specific Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
  • Provide support in the development of hazard assessments prior to project start, and during the life cycle of the project for medium to high level risk activities.
  • Assist personnel in developing and reviewing Safe Job Plans when required.
  • Complete H amp;S training and orientations for applicable personnel.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance on the projects and conduct periodic audits.
  • Perform audits and additional inspections as required.
  • Verify that corrective actions identified during inspections are implemented.
  • Evaluate H amp;S inspection reports to identify unsatisfactory performance trends.
  • Provide support and recommendations with the incident investigation process.
  • Maintain HSE documentation (inspections, audits, Tailboards, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Toolbox and HSE Meetings, etc.);
  • Attend client meetings, subcontractor start-up meetings, daily/weekly various safety meetings.
  • Maintains positive and professional working relationships while interacting and communicating with all levels of workers and management, clients, consultants, visitors and the community to promote safety.
  • Collaborate with the internal WCB Claims Coordinator on injuries and ensure the implementation and tracking of the Return-to-Work Program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
