Job Description

Please note that location will be determined by the successful candidates current place of residence.What can I expect to do in this roleIn this role, you will:
  • administer and implement aggregate resources licensing and permitting and provide aggregate resources program input in the development of provincial natural resources policies, legislation, programs, standards and guidelines consistent with regional considerations and sustainable resources development and management
  • provide strategic guidance and advice in resolving aggregates program implementation issues
  • coordinate aggregates program input to provincial and regional planning exercises
  • liaise with ministry corporate policy areas and various external client groups in relation to aggregates program delivery
Note: some occasional travel to observe aggregates operations via site visits, which may require travel on rugged terrain and exposure to the dust, noise from operation of processing and heavy equipment.How do I qualifyMandatory requirement:
  • You must have a valid class G drivers licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid drivers licence upon being hired.
Technical knowledge and expertise:
  • You possess demonstrated knowledge of the theories, methodologies, policies and practices in the field of aggregates resource management, planning and earth sciences.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply relevant provincial aggregate resource legislation, regulations and policies (e.g. Aggregate Resources Act) in providing specialized advice in the review and assessment of aggregate proposals and resource management plans.
  • You have knowledge and experience with risk management and risk assessment principles and methodologies to make recommendations regarding complex issues and to assist in the setting of priorities.
Project management and organizational skills:
  • You have demonstrated project management skills to work on complex projects with various teams and can provide leadership in a results based environment.
  • You have the ability to use organizational skills and project management approaches to organize, lead and complete complex projects within assigned timelines.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
  • You possess advanced communication skills to consult and provide advice and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders on projects, put together work plans and policy reviews, and deliver presentations.
  • You have written communication skills to create presentations, draft briefing notes, correspondence, reports and review policy and program requirements.
Relationship building skills:
  • You possess excellent relationship building skills to foster and maintain relationships.
  • You have tact, diplomacy and good judgement skills to deal with contentious issues and situations.
  • You have proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills to effectively gain support from a variety of clients, ministry staff and stakeholders on regional aggregates resources implementation or management issues.
Analytical and planning skills:
  • You possess planning and coordination skills to develop, implement and monitor operational procedures and work program planning and reporting requirements relevant to aggregate resources management.
  • You have reasoning and problem-solving skills to analyse information and make recommendations to management.
