  • provide financial analysis and support for assigned program areas and transfer payment agencies
  • provide advice to program managers on budgets, forecasts, and accounts
  • support efficient and effective financial and administrative practices
  • provide financial and controllership advice and recommendations to support decision-making
  • prepare, analyze, monitor, and maintain financial reports on expenditure/revenue accounts
  • provide technical, controllership, and business services for the region
Please note: The duties of the job will require the successful candidate to travel within the region/throughout the province to perform the duties of the position.How do I qualifyAccounting and Financial Management Knowledge and SkillsYou have knowledge of:
  • general accounting principles and practices (GAAP), including accrual accounting practices
  • corporate and ministry financial and accounting policies, procedures and practices and principles and practices of modern controllership
  • financial management, control and reporting policies, processes, and requirements
  • relevant legislation, programs and funding policies mechanisms, financial program operations and financial planning and processes and practices to provide advice and ensure effective financial management
  • expenditure forecasting and mathematical skills to prepare financial forecasts/analysis, oversee payments, reconcile financial statements, and transfer payment budgets
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • You can interpret and apply accounting and financial analysis methods, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • You have demonstrated experience monitoring accounts, analyze financial data, and prepare reports to support management decision-making.
  • You can research, identify, investigate, and resolve complex issues, evaluate financial information, and assess compliance with legislation, policy and directives, and make recommendations for improvements.
Other Important Skills
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • You can prepare, present, and discuss a variety of financial reports and correspondence.
  • You have strong interpersonal and consultation skills to advise program management, supervisors and staff on business/accounting practices and requirements, discuss business/financial issues, and resolve issues.
  • You have computer proficiency including hands-on experience working with spreadsheets, word-processing, databases, email and internet applications.
