Job Description

(Permanent, Long-Term Assignmentor Daily Occasional)The Basic Custodian duties may include:Building Maintenance

  • Change lights;
  • Shovel snow and operate snow blower;
  • Clean and inspect roof;
  • Operate grass cutting equipment;
  • Perform minor repairs;
  • Conduct health and safety checks; and
  • Service roof top unit.
Building Cleaning
  • Operate and maintain all equipment; and
  • Perform all minor and major cleaning.
Requirements/Education
  • Minimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent
The ideal candidate should possess:
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
  • Exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
  • The ability to use a computer (e.g. Google Suite; Smart Find, etc.)
  • Experience in handling machinery (e.g. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers); and,
  • Knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies.
Start Date: As soon as possibleHours of Work: Call-in basis, Monday - FridayDaily Rate: $18.31 per hour + vacation payLong Term Assignment Rate: $18.31 per hour + vacation pay Permanent Rate: $21.20 - $21.66 + pension and benefits and applicable allowancesWe thank all applicants for their interest in opportunities with the Avon Maitland District School Board.
