Canadian Helicopters has operated rotary wing aircraft since 1947 and is Canadas largest helicopter operator with more than 20 locations across the country and a fleet of nearly 100 single and multi-engine aircraft. Canadian Helicopters holds an authorization for day/night, VFR/IFR and NVG operations. The company provides transportation services to a variety of industries, including emergency medical services, hydropower, oil and gas, mining, environmental, recreation, police and military, and has a diverse project portfolio with operations in a variety of complex and austere environments including Arctic/Antarctic and mountainous and desert environments.The Sept-Îles base supports several major customers on an annual basis, by operating a fleet of single-engine and twin-engine helicopters. Its strategic location generates a high level of commercial activity through a wide variety of contracts.Job DescriptionReporting directly to the Base Manager, the Assistant Manager is immersed in an exciting career opportunity that includes both base managerial and aircraft piloting responsibilities. The assistant manager supports the activities of the base manager in terms of operations, security and the various needs of the base. The Assistant Manager becomes responsible for the base in the absence of the Manager and is supported by an operations assistant as well as by the Regional Director of Eastern Operations. In addition, he will be able to carry out his pilot duties on a regular basis.Responsibilities:

  • Must operate as pilot-in-command on a regular basis or upon ad hoc request to ensure the maintenance of our services.
  • Assist the manager in the supervision of operations and the crew, and the security of operations for the base.
  • Participates in programs and various management initiatives relating to safety, in conjunction with the management team, and submits recommendations.
  • Helps coordinate base schedules in conjunction with the Manager and Regional Operations Manager, then supports the assignment of duties and responsibilities of staff under the responsibility of the Manager.
  • Contributes to the support of his team during flight planning and regarding local operating procedures.
  • Responds to specific customer needs.
  • Develops bids in collaboration with the base manager.
Qualifications
  • Commercial Helicopter Pilot License;
  • Minimum of 2000 flight hours on a helicopter;
  • Annotation on AS350 is required and annotation on AS355 and/or BH06 is an asset;
  • 5 years of experience in the helicopter industry in Canada;
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously;
  • Desire to develop skills in management, leadership, coaching, interpersonal relations and problem solving;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Great communication skills (French and English);
  • Experience in sales and/or marketing is an asset.
