AGRICULTURAL SERVICE TECHNICIANDepartment: ServiceReports to: Service Manager (accountability to the Shop Foreman, if applicable) PurposeIndependently performs diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural equipment. Ensures quality work and customer satisfaction while maximizing efficiency and productivity. Key Responsibility AreasEquipment Diagnostics, Repairs and OptimizationPerform all the duties of a Service Technician including:removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of componentscomplex and difficult diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipmentmay specialize on all types of equipmentPerform a mix of shop and/or road (in the field) work, as required; which, includes Precision Ag repairsPerform any and all service tasks as assignedMay perform machine start upsMay perform machine optimizationsMay assist or support in customer clinicsAssists other technicians with diagnosticsMaintain condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment in good working orderAdministrative/Reporting/GoalsWorks toward attaining and maintaining appropriate efficiency, productivity and labour performance for personal ratings as well as to assist with team/department goalsMaintains a minimum 80% or higher, labour performance rating, on a consistent basisMust be at over 80% labour performance on a longer-term basisComplete all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignmentsManages workorder process from start to T completeAccount for all time and material used in performing assigned dutiesFollow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignmentsOrganization / Department / Team SupportMaintain a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashionWork to build and maintain constructive co-worker relations, and effective and productive team dynamicsEnsure all safety regulations and requirements are followed by self and othersPersonal DevelopmentParticipate in training programs required for the development of skills and knowledgeParticipate in any specified training, as offered in the workplaceMaintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive productsMaintain up-to-date and current product knowledge of related linesMaintain required technical and behavioural skillsCritical CapabilitiesAbility to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual proceduresAbility to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposesAbility to lift at least 40 lbs. repeatedly; ability to lift between 40-75lbs as neededAbility to work flexible hours, varying shifts, weekends and holidays, if necessaryAbility to self-manageHaving and maintaining a valid driver’s license requiredDesired Experience and QualificationsCertified Journeyperson or equivalent4+ years of experience performing service repairsKnowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrains, air-conditioning, mechanical and electrical systems, used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment; And as they apply to machines marketed by the dealershipAbility to read, write, and speak effectively with customers and/or other employeesHigh School Diploma or equivalent experience requiredForklift license preferredWillingness to learn and work hard
