ESMH opened in 1976 to service the eastern coast of Halifax Regional Municipality. Located in Sheet Harbour, ESMH is a 16-bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and community-based care as well as 24-hour emergency medicine. It is also attached to the continuing care centre, Harbourview Lodge Continuing Care Centre.This opportunity is available to both Emergency Medicine Physicians and Family Physicians with relevant qualifications for emergency medicine coverage. Opportunities to locum with the tri-facilities are available, these facilities include Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital and Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital in Sheet Harbour. The incoming physicians do not need to live in the Musquodoboit or Sheet Harbour Region. These positions are compensated through the CEC hourly rate of $161.22/h. There is no overhead charged for Emergency Department coverage.Note: The Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital is eligible for the Provincial Locum program.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease preventionConsultation and referral to other medical practitioners’Act as a patient’s advocatePrescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinationsReport births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirementsExpected HoursFull-time, Part-time, Physicians choiceQualificationsEligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Community DetailsSheet Harbour is a rural community on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.
