Job Description

The Extruder Assistant is an entry level position at BMPE. Our training program is open to all staff who have the mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. We have a graduated wage scale as candidates achieve specific skill and experience over a 6-year period.The Extruder Assistant will assist experienced Extrusion Operators and Press Operators in many ways including:
  • Startup of Blown Film Extrusion lines.
  • Roll changes, Packaging of rolls, ensuring all tasks are met in a timely manner
  • Use of a pallet truck, walkie, and forklift (in-house Certification available)
  • Performing Quality Checks, keeping production records, and maintaining a clean, organized and safe working environment.
  • Attention to detail when maintaining & running the machinery
  • Setup of a Flexographic printing press,
  • Packaging finished rolls off Press, (Primary Duty).
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned
The successful Extruder Assistant will:
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills and co-operate with peers and supervisor.
  • Capability of lifting 50 lb loads throughout the day
  • Experience operating Forklift Machinery (in-house training provided)
  • Grade 12 or equivalent diploma.
  • Some experience in extrusion and printing is an asset.
The Extruder Assistant must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts two weeks days and two weeks nights. Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends especially during peak season.
