Job Description

The Sherwood Park – Strathcona County Primary Care Network is a group of health care professionals and administrative staff who work with you and your Doctor to help you live well. Our caring team provides education and support for managing chronic diseases and mental health concerns, while providing access to specialists and services all within your local community.We are currently looking for a Communications Advisor to join our team. This is an ideal position for an experienced Communications Professional seeking an opportunity to be responsible for a broad range of communication initiatives. You will be able to utilize your exceptional writing, planning and implementation expertise, and contribute to the changing work of the PCN. If you have the qualifications listed below, please submit your resume along with a cover letter for consideration.Full-Time, Permanent (38.75hrs/week)May occasionally work in the Fort Saskatchewan officeSPPCN provides a comprehensive compensation packagePOSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Advisor will plan, develop, and execute communications strategies to achieve organizational goals and enhance awareness of Sherwood Park – Strathcona County Primary Care Network (SPPCN). The Communications Advisor will be responsible for engaging stakeholders, promoting SPPCN’s brand, and communicating key messages about SPPCN’s role, value, initiatives and programs. The incumbent will develop and lead internal and external communications by identifying opportunities, sharing information effectively, and elevating SPPCN’s profile with staff and stakeholders.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing content plans and creating content (including writing, editing, graphics and visuals, videos, etc.) for key audiences (internal and external) using SPPCN’s multiple communication channels.
  • Developing and managing SPPCN’s social media presence, including monitoring and coordinating social media accounts (Facebook; Twitter; LinkedIn) and updating the SPPCN website
  • Monitoring media, including social media, and identifying trends and emerging issues that may impact the SPPCN.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to and updating SPPCN’s brand and visual guidelines (on all communications, publications, templates and forms etc.).
  • Creating and updating SPPCN and clinic publications (e.g. Annual Report, posters, tear sheets) including planning, interviewing, writing, and liaising with contractors (e.g., graphic designers, photographers).
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, promotion, and execution of internal and external SPPCN events.
  • Act as a communications subject matter expert and advisor, including fielding community presentation requests, developing communication presentations and materials as needed. May draft correspondence for the Executive Director, including letters, memos, fact sheets, etc.
  • Participate as SPPCN’s communications representative on the Edmonton Zone Pan PCN, or community groups and collaborate with group members on campaigns and projects.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance SPPCN’s profile in the community, in alignment with SPPCN’s business plan and priorities.
  • Responsible for coordinating media relation activities, including developing a media contact list, writing backgrounders, news releases, public service announcements, etc. Prepare SPPCN management for media opportunities, developing key messages, identifying subject matter experts and SPPCN spokespeople.
May act as SPPCN spokesperson when appropriate.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Post-secondary Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience working in the field of communications and/or related field
  • A combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating communication plans and content for a variety of communication channels including social media and digital platforms
  • Experience using graphic design software, such as Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Canva
  • Experience with Google Analytics, and e-newsletter software, such as Mailchimp preferred
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and website content management systems required.
  • Experience coordinating social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn, required.
  • Media Relations, event planning and coordination experience an asset
  • Experience working in healthcare and/or not-for-profit sector an asset
