Job Description

From the initial site selection, consultation and regulatory approval, through the construction, operation and maintenance phases, to conclusion and environmental cleanup, Vertex offers a diverse range of services throughout the lifecycle of our clients’ projects.OVERVIEWVertex is currently accepting applications for one full-time, permanent Payroll Administrator. The successful candidate must have a minimum two years of previous payroll experience and will work closely with other members of the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely process of all payrolls and payroll related duties.QUALIFICATIONS

  • Canadian Payroll Association Certification completed or in progress would be preferable
  • Experience with hourly and salary payroll is required
  • Strong knowledge of Employment Standards is required
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Advanced skill-level with Excel is a must
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of payroll for all company employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy
  • Ensure all salaries are paid accurately and in a timely fashion to all employees
  • Setting up new employees in payroll systems
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Prepare journal entries and forms, such as records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances
  • Prepare and remit source deductions and payroll tax, and process TD1 forms
  • Prepare monthly statements and compile statistical reports
  • Establish and maintain confidential employee files, verify coding, pay amounts, hours of work, deductions and obtain signatures
  • Batch sheets for data entry and enter payroll information to ultimately distribute paychecks
  • Provide excellent customer service to all employees and clients
  • Perform other duties as directed by management
LOCATION
  • This position will be based out of Sherwood Park, AB
