Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity at the Strathcona Community Hospital. The facility offers a 24/7 Emergency Department and a variety of Ambulatory, Laboratory, and Diagnostic Imaging services. This Orthopaedic Tech Certified position is the “front line” representation in delivering care within the Ambulatory Care Clinics. Based on a primary health care model, the incumbent functions within a multidisciplinary team, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing related duties in accordance with clinical policies and standards. The incumbent must have strong judgment and decision making skills, as well as the ability to participate in inter-professional collaboration. An LPN/Orthopedic Technician delivers quality nursing care to patients within the Ambulatory Care Clinics. Responsibilities include (but not limited to) general cast duties, application of splints and support of patients during Ortho Clinics and other clinics where needed. Effective teaching to orthopedic patients in care, and use of casts and orthopedic appliances, and all other general LPN duties related to this area.Description:As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patients physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
