At FortisAlberta, we power Alberta communities and empower our people to do their best work.What Are We Looking ForUnder the general supervision of the Manager Major Projects, the Project Manager is accountable for managing the delivery of quality electric distribution projects (greater than $500k, politically sensitive and/or complex in nature). This position will ensure that these projects are executed on schedule, within budget, while meeting customer and stakeholder requirements. The Project Manager will demonstrate effective proactive leadership, problem solving strategies and practices, while effectively using internal and external resources in the delivery of projects.Please note there are two (2) positions available. These positions may be based in either Airdrie or Sherwood Park, ABThe Project Manager is accountable for the delivery of all aspects of a project; this includes developing project scope, estimating costs setting objectives and goals, planning, scheduling and utilizing resources, forecasting costs, material forecasting, monitoring progress and measuring performance, documentation and reporting, and project conclusion (including financial close). This role will provide leadership with respect to cost control measures and project reporting requirements that adhere to the strict requirements of SOX and approve change order requests and ensure that project documentation meets SOX reporting requirements.The Project Manager manages complex large projects ranging from $500k to several million dollars in value and contributes to the change, development, and management of delivery of non-standard and/or ambiguous project requirements and requests. This position will recognize, evaluate, and mitigate risks though the life of the project and work with Stakeholder Relations to manage the expectations of FortisAlberta’s largest customers with respect to the successful delivery of large distribution projects, project milestones, and deadlines.It is essential that the Project Manager builds and maintains important customer relationships due to the high profile nature of these projects, and maintains excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholder relationships; this includes communicating effectively and managing expectations. This role will contribute to the development, documentation and implementation of project management policies, procedures, best practices and new standards and must effectively develop and manage Contracts and Contractors.This role will provide informal leadership and training to work teams and individuals, and coach and develop competencies of other Projects employees in the areas of Project Management, design, project cost control, rates and contracts, estimating and networking skills.
