Job Description

Position Title: Dietary Aide/Porter – Nutrition & Food ServicesPosition Status: Part TimeRate of Pay: $22.43 - $23.07 hourly plus % in lieu of benefitsPosting No.: 23-03Posting Date: January 6, 2023Deadline to Apply: January 13, 2023 External: Until FilledPosition Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Foodservice Workers Certificate – or in progress
  • Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to exercise good judgment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Physically capable of performing all duties including lifting, twisting, bending, walking and standing
for pro-longed periods of time and carrying various items and weights up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to maintain a co-operative working relationship with other members of the health care team
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Work within established deadlines and in high temperatures and humidity
  • Must be able to work shifts, weekends and holidays
Principal Position Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Learn, understand and memorize various details of the job including special diet information,
sanitation techniques, proper food handling, proper chemical handling, proper equipment operationand cleaning and a wide variety of routines specific to various shifts.• Portion food and beverages according to specific count demonstrating appropriate food handlingtechnique and portion control.
  • Work various positions on tray line serving food neatly and accurately according to patients’ menu
demonstrating a clear understanding of clinical diets.
  • Deliver trays to patient bedside and pick up soiled trays.
  • Meal service and delivery to NHNH residents using a dining room style service as well as dining room
clean up following meal service.
  • Assembly and distribution of patient and bulk nourishments.
  • Working various positions on the dishwasher.
  • Preparation, set up and distribution of catering as required.
  • Required to adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions set up by
